David/Nicolas
"With Del savio 1910 it was a very interesting collaboration, different, as the material itself is new and the manufacturing process is highly handmade."
David Raffoul and Nicholas Moussallem first met at the Lebanese School of Fine Arts, where they both studied interior design, before taking a master’s degree at the Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan. In 2011 they founded their studio in Beirut. Thanks to its interdisciplinary approach and distinguishing retro-futurist taste, the studio organised a number of exhibitions and currently collaborates with various international brands.
In 2014, the New York Times selected David/ Nicholas’s creative work as one of the most interesting and outstanding of the Milan Design Week. In the same year, they held their first personal exhibition in Beirut, “Loulou / Hoda”, presenting works inspired by their grandmothers. The pieces displayed combine antithetical elements such as the East and the West, the ancient and the modern.
Their first industrial project, the “Orquestra” collection for Vista Alegre, received the Red Dot Design Award. Since 2016, they are represented by the Carpenters Workshop Gallery. Their personal exhibition, “Supernova”, which includes pieces of art-design, has been displayed in Paris and New York.
